The Senior Accountant's responsibilities include daily monitoring and updating the general ledger and other related accounting systems, including posting or reviewing all necessary journal entries and compiling and reconciling the supporting data for the entries and data used in other areas of reporting.

This position will be focused primarily on the accounting and administration of ancillary products offered by the Company during loan origination. This individual will be expected to take full ownership of their assigned areas (1) with little supervision; (2) produce reporting as needed in a manner that is presentable to upper management and possibly the Executive team; (3) identify areas for improvement (specifically, implementation and documentation around internal controls as well as overall process automation to improve efficiency); and (4) be the point of contact for any questions related to those areas whether the questions come from Accounting management, other departments or even outside of Flagship (auditors, vendors, etc.).



About you:
  • REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • REQUIRED:  4 years of experience, including at least 2 years as a senior accountant or equivalent level
  • PREFERRED: Licensed CPA, or CPA candidate
  • PREFERRED:  Experience with financial systems /general ledger software
  • REQUIRED: Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • REQUIRED: Working knowledge of US GAAP
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and third parties
  • Ability to analyze general ledger activity to create balance sheet reconciliations and propose
  • Attention to detail and the capability of thorough self-review for accurate reporting and analysis, as well as having the initiative to question and improve current processes and the eagerness to learn and take on new responsibilities
  • Ability to adapt quickly to a changing work environment and prioritize tasks in an efficient, time-oriented manner
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
What is a day in the life at Flagship like as a Senior 
Accountant, Financial Reporting?
  • Take full ownership of their assigned areas (1) with little supervision; (2) produce reporting as needed in a manner that is presentable to upper management and possibly the Executive team; (3) identify areas for improvement (specifically, implementation and documentation around internal controls as well as overall process automation to improve efficiency); and (4) be the point of contact for any questions related to those areas whether the questions come from Accounting management, other departments or even outside of Flagship (auditors, vendors, etc.).
  • Collect data and perform research on the details of general ledger transactions or other data utilized to reconcile financial records
  • Compile, prepare, post and possibly review general ledger journal entries
  • Perform month-end financial close responsibilities include generating monthly standard journal entries, general ledger account reconciliations, generating appropriate accruals, researching variances and performing tasks that contribute to the production of the monthly financial statements and financial reporting package presented to the Controller, CFO and CEO. 
  • Communicate with other company personnel and contacts outside the company with limited supervision
  • Monitor compliance with internal control standards or work to implement the necessary controls that help identify potential issues and mitigate risk of errors
