Meet Karl!

VP of Risk
At our Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania location since October 2006

Headshot for Karl Stabler

When Karl graduated from Kutztown University he accepted his first post-college job as a Funder with Flagship. He didn’t stay in that position for long. As Flagship was growing, new opportunities for a versatile team member such as Karl were emerging. Early-on Karl tried his hand in various roles within the organization, something that helped find his “best fit” professionally. That exposure also lent to his breadth of knowledge about the company as a whole. He seized the opportunity to advance and has continued to do so since he first started with us nearly a decade ago!

In his own words.

"I am one of the ‘veterans’ in the office. I started as an entry level Funder in October 2006 without a clear idea of the direction I wanted my career to go.

When the company entered the liquidity crisis of 2008-2010 I used the opportunity to advance through different departments, which gave me a better understanding of my strengths and weaknesses.

Although it wasn’t my background in college, I discovered I had a knack for working with databases and performing risk analytics. Luckily, the human resources department and Executive Team agreed! To better utilize my skills, I moved into a role as an Operations Analyst, which evolved into a Risk Analyst position.

Without Flagship allowing me to explore different options, allowing me to grow, I can guarantee I would never be in the position I am today.

As the Director of Business Analytics at Flagship Credit Acceptance I am responsible for the reporting and modeling of all information related to risk, credit, and portfolio level performance. I work closely with the Executive Team in all areas of data analytics. As part of my job I often present information to outside banks and represent the company at investor conferences. Because I’ve been with the company since 2006 I’m often called upon by other departments to help develop solutions and identify potential opportunities with outside vendors – which is something that I really enjoy being a part of.

It’s been a great experience from the beginning. I never thought I would learn so much and have such a big impact in an organization so early in my career."

Thank you for being a part of our Flagship family, Karl!

Our Lending Philosophy

A borrower is more than just a credit score. At Flagship, we focus on the story behind the customer …and look beyond the number.

Life happens. Whether low credit scores are a result of past circumstances, one-time events or just bad luck, Flagship offers multi-tiered pricing structures to finance borrowers across the credit spectrum.

At Flagship we believe a borrower’s credit past shouldn’t dictate their future.

Many borrowers need a second chance. We recognize the vast majority of persons with credit challenges are working hard to re-establish their credit rating. Each of our Credit Analysts are trained in "common sense" lending, a philosophy of reviewing all the circumstances and determining the appropriate deal structure for the specific borrower situation. Flagship maintains a very high standard regarding  Fair Lending compliance, ensuring our customers are always treated professionally and consistently.
