Meet Sean, Loan Servicing Supervisor III who has been with Flagship since November 5, 2007. A long-time professional in the collections business, Sean had zero experience when it came to the auto industry; but when his former supervisor started raving about the work environment, challenging position, and bonus structure offered at Flagship, he decided to take a chance on a new career.
In his own words:
I had been in the collections industry since 1999, starting out in credit cards at First USA Bank (later known as Bank One). I then worked for a third-party collections agency for a few years before moving on to HSBC to collect on tax loans and retail credit cards. A former supervisor approached me about an open position with his new employer, Flagship. He couldn’t say enough good things about the company. He knew my work ethic pretty well and thought it would be a really good opportunity for me coming from the retail side, even though I’d never worked in the auto industry before. I was only doing unsecured debt at the time, collections with no collateral, and I wanted to make a move to a company that offered a lot of opportunity for growth and one that rewarded success.
I found exactly what I was looking for at Flagship.
Over the years, I have worked my way up from Early Stage Collector to Mid-stage/ Late-Stage, all the way up to Loss Mitigation Supervisor of our Repossession department. To think I started here without knowing anything about the auto industry, I’m very proud of my accomplishments. But without all the help and support I got from my co-workers teaching me the industry along the way, I’d never be where I am now.
As the leader of my own team, I take pride in the fact that my team members love their job. The Loss Mitigation department plays an important role in our Company, but it can be stressful…really stressful. No matter what, each day we come in and tackle the day’s work, head-on. We are a tight-knit team and we’ve been able to accomplish a lot since I was promoted into the Supervisor role five years ago.
At Flagship, you can advance your career as far as you want to go. The sky’s the limit! I’m living proof that if you want to be a supervisor in your department, you can do it. Set a goal with your management team, and if you work hard, you’ll succeed. In my time here, I’ve seen countless co-workers advance in their careers with the help of the leadership team here at Flagship.
I can honestly say I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else. I am proud to work for Flagship!
