Chris Keiser invited to chair AFSA’s Law Committee

Flagship is proud to announce that Chris Keiser, General Counsel, has been invited to serve as a chair for AFSA’s Law Committee. The American Financial Services Association (AFSA) is the national trade association for the consumer credit industry, protecting access to credit and consumer choice.

Keiser has been involved with AFSA since the start of his career, stating, “It has been such a valuable way to help keep up to date on changes in the law and to help positively influence changes. I am happy to have the opportunity to chair the Law Committee, which contributes so much to a great organization!”

The Law Committee addresses all aspects of the legal environment impacting the financial services industry, including legislative issues, regulatory matters, and litigation. The committee helps to develop AFSA’s judicial, legislative, and regulatory policies and strategies. The main areas of focus for AFSA’s Law Committee include credit availability, fair lending, credit reporting, debt collection, rate caps, privacy, data security, examinations, voluntary protection products, disclosure, loan servicing, leasing, subprime lending, and Fintech.

About the American Financial Services Association (AFSA):

AFSA’s mission is to promote safe, ethical lending to responsible, informed borrowers, and to improve and protect consumers’ access to credit.

Founded in 1916, the American Financial Services Association (AFSA) is the primary trade association for the consumer credit industry, protecting access to credit and consumer choice. AFSA provides the consumer credit industry and the consumers it services with a voice in Washington, D.C., where the association is headquartered, and access to the media and investment community. It also provides policy advice and issues management at both the federal and state level.

AFSA members provide consumers with many kinds of credit, including traditional installment loans, direct and indirect vehicle financing, mortgages, payment cards, and credit for non-vehicle retail customers. AFSA members do not provide payday or vehicle title loans.

AFSA members shape the industry’s direction and positions on a broad range of public policy issues that affect the consumer credit industry. No other trade group in America has more depth and influence on consumer finance issues.
